15 things to do after

You just got engaged , HOW EXCITING !!! Wait … you just got engaged , NOW WHAT ?

Don ’ t stress . We have a list of things to help you through your journey from engaged to married ! Here are a few things we think you should consider .
1 . Call Your Parents Call your brothers and sisters , your close friends who are like family . You don ’ t want them finding out through social media that you are engaged . Call them personally . There may be a chance your parents already know it was going to happen and are waiting patiently for the call to confirm it has happened .
2 . Get a Manicure If this is not something you do normally you might want to now . Your hand and that shiny new ring will be the center of attention for a while . If you ’ re going for a natural look , make sure your nails are shaped and cleaned . You don ’ t want family and friends to notice your chipped nails over the new engagement ring .
3 . Post a Ring Selfie When you ’ re ready to tell the rest of the world your big news , take an awesome picture of your ring or of you and your new fiancé and post it to your socials . If there was a surprise photographer or videographer that captured the proposal be sure to post that !
4 . Get Your Ring Insured Yes , one of the less fun parts about getting engaged . But it could save your butt in the long run . You can add the ring as an extension to your home or renter ’ s insurance and it ’ s not all that expensive .
5 . Engagement Party Take some time to celebrate this new chapter in your life . Doesn ’ t have to be a big party . Some close family and friends out for a couple of drinks . Or just have a little date night party for the two of you . Either way , your engaged ! Celebrate a little .
6 . Don ’ t Jump Right In Take a couple of weeks to let the news settle in before you jump into wedding planning . You ’ ll have enough stress during the planning process so enjoy a little calm down time .
7 . Size that Ring If the ring fits , AWESOME ! But if it doesn ’ t , get to your jeweler and get it sized . You don ’ t want to chance losing it right after saying yes .
8 . Pick a Date If you ’ re looking to tie this knot sooner rather than later then you ’ ll need to get your date set and soon . Some of the most desirable dates are booked out years in advance . So figure out what works best for you and your family and set that date .
9 . Budget Before you move forward with any wedding planning , make sure you check your budget . Unfortunately , no one likes to talk about this part but to make sure you don ’ t get in over your head , create a budge . Determine which aspects of your wedding day are most important and that you are willing to spend more money on and which areas are not .
10 . Check out Venues You may have your date picked but you have to make sure your dream venue has that date available . Check out all your options , do some research . Make sure the location is ideal for your plans .
