LOVE

Our love story began in the spring of 2019 , when I started working at the post office . Jack had already been working there for some time as a mail carrier . Frequently passing by one another would lead to small talk and joke-telling . Fast forward a year and some change , I would start asking him what he liked to do , what kind of movies he enjoyed , or if he liked a particular restaurant . I would always get similar responses , “ I don ’ t really go out because my friends all live out of town .” I would respond that “ you could always go with someone else .” Finally , after two months of flirting , I asked if he ’ d be interested in going out sometime . He asked for my phone number , and then struggled to find a piece of paper to write it down . I then went home , and called my best friend to tell her the good news . She said to give him three business days to call . He called as soon as he got off work , about four hours later . we let the venue be our primary form of decoration . Adding only mason jars and a few flowers to the rustic barn . Early rain storms led to a calm dusk in time for the ceremony that went off without a hitch . Seeing Jack ’ s face light up when he first saw me in my dress made me certain I ’ d made a good choice . I was even more sure in that moment that we loved each other to the moon and back , or maybe even Pluto and back .
I could not have imagined a more perfect , and surprisingly relaxing , day thanks in no small part to our amazing wedding manager , Amy Deters . I cannot stress enough that everyone should look into hiring a good manager .
We then went on our first date . Opening doors and being a perfect gentleman left an even better impression of him on me . I even gave him a bite of my meal as he ’ d never been to where we ate . This was a game-changer since I do not tend to share my food with anyone , ever . He made me feel so special in such a short amount of time that I knew he was the one . I just hoped he was getting the same feelings . We continued to see each other , going on hiking and kayak adventures , even to the drive-in .
After about a year and a half , thinking that Jack would wait twenty years to propose , he got down on one knee when we were running out the door to my high school reunion . Being speechless for perhaps the first time in my life , I managed to giggly say “ yes .” Needless to say , I did not see this coming .
Planning a wedding became our first serious undertaking together , deciding to hold the big day for a Sunday . Our reasoning being that our post office doesn ’ t deliver on Sunday . This lent itself also to the fact that Jack ’ s dad and brother also work as mail carriers . We really wanted some of our co-workers to be able to attend too . With a simple wedding in mind ,
