COORDINATE MAIL AND / OR DELIVERIES Ask someone to bring in the packages and occasionally check the mail . SET UP SMART THERMOSTATS AND / OR SMOKE ALARMS If you registered for things like smart doorbells or carbon monoxide detectors , set them up before you go . You ’ ll be able to turn down the air conditioning or be alerted to any issues while out of town
PLAN FOR YOUR PETS You might ask a friend to care for your pets while you ’ re gone , but make sure they have emergency numbers and access to money if they need to cover unexpected costs .
