The origins of St . Patrick ’ s Day in Latin America began when the Irish migrated to Mexico and Argentina . In the late 1800s during the potato famine , Irish immigrants made their way to Latin America in hopes of happiness and health . They brought along their traditions and celebrations . One , in particular , St . Patrick ’ s Day .

Mexico and Ireland Connection

Here ’ s a little history lesson for you ! During the Mexican-American war , many of the Irish immigrants that were fighting on the American side switched over to help the Mexicans due to bullying . Mexicans are forever grateful to the brave , Irish soldiers that fought for a foreign ground invasion . Talk about drama !
