Regulations for Anesthesia Permit holders

The State Board of Dentistry must receive prior notice of the first time that a dental office will be used for the administration of general anesthesia , deep sedation , conscious sedation or nitrous oxide .

Unrestricted Permit Holders
( general anesthesia , deep sedation , conscious sedation , nitrous oxide / oxygen analgesia )
Certification :
OMS and Non-OMS
1 . Must have certification in ACLS to administer to adults . 2 . Must have certification in PALS to administer to children ( under 18 ).
Requirements :
A permit holder must do one ( 1 ) of the following :
1 . Successfully completed two ( 2 ) years in a postgraduate program for advanced training in anesthesiology or related subjects that conforms to Part II of the ADA ’ s Guidelines .
2 . Possess current certification as a Diplomat of the American Board of OMS , a Fellow of AAOMS or a Fellow of American Dental Society of Anesthesiology , or be eligible for examination by the American Board of OMS .
Standards :
OMS 1 . Must attest that the administration of anesthesia / sedation conform with AAOMS Guidelines and Manual . Non-OMS
1 . Must attest that the administration of anesthesia / sedation to adults conform with ADA Guidelines .
2 . Must attest that the administration of anesthesia / sedation to children ( under 18 ) conform with AAPD Guidelines . 2024
