There is a war on Queers, LGBTQQIALMNOP, dykes, faggots, whatever you want to call us. We have a long legacy that has been erased throughout the decades, mostly composed of reactionary violence, riots, anti-assimilation, and many, many publications of 'zines and other forms of media. We have been replaced by happy cisgender homonormative upper-middle class white men who are trying to prove that they're "just like straights."
Well, guess what. That doesn't represent every Queer out there. Hell, that barely represents us at all; most of us are not what society is learning to see us as. We're not all white. We're not all men, upper-middle class, monogamous, cisgendered, or even happy. A lot of us are people of color, genderqueer, dykes, polyamorous... the list goes on. And many of us aren't and don't want to be assimilated into straight culture. Well, let's face it. Straight people, old racist, homophobic white dudes run this world, and those of us who subvert the norms fell through the cracks-- and not by accident.
We radical queers identify the fact that the institutions that mainstream LGB activists want to be a part of are inherently oppressive and promote a patriarchal, imperialist, and hierarchical system-- the very forces that have constructed the oppression we experience today.
Well, fuck that. This 'zine is intended to provide some (not so new) perspectives that have been hidden by mainstream lesbian and gay activists. We hope that this helps you in some way, whether that means exposing you to something new, or affirming what you already knew. But ultimately, I hope this 'zine lets you know that you are not alone, that we are all fighting to make this world a better place for each other. We're all in this together, and don't forget that.
