KYLIE & NICK

Modern classic

After a modern start to their romance ( the pair met on Tinder and continued talking at Jimmy ’ s on the Mall ), Kylie and Nick have incorporated plenty of tradition into their lives together . Their passion is renovating the 100-year-old Queenslander home they share with Border Collie Rabbit . And when they don ’ t have a paint brush in hand , the couple makes time for plenty of other romantic adventures . “ Dinner and drinks , and beach days ,” says Kylie . “ We do randomly enjoy a Latin dance night every few years too .” After Nick ’ s romantic proposal — under a fairy-lit jacaranda tree at French-inspired Montville estate Spicers Clovelly — the couple also chose a wedding venue imbued with heritage charm . Built in the late 1880s , Customs House offered the perfect riverside locale with its grand collonades , private porticos ( perfect for photos ) and iconic copper dome . “ It was a central place for all of our overseas guests , explains Kylie . “ We also love heritage architecture .” The venue itself offered up plenty of design inspiration but Kylie also looked abroad to create the perfectly personal mix of old and new . “ I gathered a lot of inspiration from Design Anarchy ,” she explains , citing the events powerhouse known for their glamorous and eclectic weddings in Italy . This celebration certainly carried a dash of European sophistication with its chic monochrome palette , classical backdrop , and luxurious styling . When it came to kitting out the happy couple , Nick opted for a timeless double-breasted suit to complement the old-world feel of the venue . For the bride , it was a signature mix of traditional and modern . “ The dress of my dreams was a strapless ballgown with a fun split up the thigh , custom-made by Ella Moda ,” says Kylie . queenslandbrides . com . au 95
