Set within the soul-stirring halls of the Queensland Art Gallery ( QAG ) this wedding is a nod to artists and lovers alike . The pandemic may have transformed

Eliza and Joe ’ s celebration ( which ended up spanning five months , more on that later ), but you ’ d never guess based on these dreamy images from photographer Joe Ruckli . When the couple awoke on their chosen date , it was set to be a wedding day like any other — ceremony in the morning , and dancing the night away at the reception . But instead , a 4pm snap lockdown ( announced while the pair were getting ready , no less ) threw the day ’ s run sheet out the window . “ It threw a spanner in the works at first ,” admits the bride . “ But once we decided to pull the ceremony forward , it refocused us on what was important . We had a fantastic day .”
So , let ’ s start on the day vows were exchanged : 31 June , at the Cathedral of St Stephen . Surrounded by their closest friends and family , Eliza and Joe were able to officially start their lives together as husband and wife at a wedding mass celebrated by Father Ihemelandu Uzuegbu . COVID limitations meant Eliza had to hunt online for her gown , but the dress she found was obviously meant to be . “ My dress was ordered online from Kamperett , and luckily it was a perfect fit ,” she says . Eliza and her bridesmaids each carried armfuls of florals from Fig Flowers
