“ I had both of my parents walk me down the aisle which was so incredibly special ”

head over heels for the architecture and understated glamour of The Calile Hotel in Fortitude Valley . Perfect to host their 73 cherished guests .
Dovetailing perfectly into that luxe choice of location was the bride ’ s wedding gown . Make that wedding gowns as Nicole chose two elegant looks , both created by bridal designer Wendy Makin . “ I feel my first gown fit that classic but also modern aesthetic we were trying to achieve ,” says Nicole . “ My second dress I called my ‘ Audrey Hepburn ’ dress which I equally loved .”
Also on brief was Matt ’ s timeless tux . “ He really wanted something to make him feel like the groom ” says Nicole . “ His suit was different to the groomsmen which I think was a nice touch . I also surprised him with custom-made cufflinks of our dog ( we only had the one at that point ) which he just loved and was a nice way to feel like he was there with us .”
When the big day arrived , another personal touch made the ceremony perfect for the bride . “ I had both of my parents walk me down the aisle which was so incredibly special ,” says Nicole . “ I always wanted that but felt that it wouldn ’ t be fair to take the moment away from my dad — but he actually asked if I would also like mum to walk me down too !”
Becoming Mr and Mrs was always going to be more than a party for the pair . “ Marriage is about choosing your teammate , committing to them and working together for the rest of your lives ” says Nicole . “ They love you at your best and your worst and they support you through it all .”
After a joyful evening of laughter , good food , and playful hotel pics with their photographer Tessa Cox ( love !), Nicole admits the popular saying rings true : the day really does go so fast ! With that in mind , she encourages other brides to “ really enjoy the process and don ’ t let the stress consume you . It will all come together in the end . Don ’ t wish the time away and , most importantly , relax on the wedding day . Put your faith in your amazing vendors and they will take the best care of you .”
A minimoon to Daydream Island in The Whitsundays was the perfect antidote to a solid year of wedding planning for the newlyweds . “ We both really wanted to relax and unwind ,” says Nicole . Sounds like a dream .
