REAL WEDDINGS

“ Telling all our friends and family we were engaged and all the love we felt — it really is such a special time .“
It was a family connection again that secured the couple their dream venue at Cannonvale ’ s Whitsunday Marine Club . “ We had been to a 50th at the venue a year prior and the sunset over the water and just the whole atmosphere was amazing ,” says Kirsty . “ I said to Jacob then , if we ever get married I want to do it here - and so we did .”
With a May engagement and an October wedding date , Kirsty had to push her gown search into high gear . After a false start with her initial purchase (“ It was beautiful but not exactly what I wanted ”), Kirsty went looking for other options . “ I didn ’ t want to walk down the aisle in a dress I didn ’ t absolutely love ,” she says of the emotion-charged journey .
“ After many , many tears , and reassurance from Jacob it would be fine , I jumped on Stillwhite , a second-hand dress website . I ended up buying a Karen Willis Holmes dress I had been looking at since we got engaged . All her dresses are absolutely stunning .” Kirsty ’ s gut feeling was rewarded when the gown arrived just two days later . “ It was The One ,” she says . “ I ’ m still so in love with it !”
The couple ’ s wedding had a similarly serendipitous feel , with friends and family converging on the iconic waterfront location to witness “ we do ”. The wedding party then slipped away for a glorious golden hour photo shoot , showcasing a more rustic side to this iconic island region .
