REAL WEDDINGS

( Above ) The Alamanda Great Barrier Reef Chapel offered a beautiful beachfront setting . ( Below ) Emily shares the moment with her inner circle .( Below right ) The couple returned to where their love story began , with the tropical surrounds bringing a chic destination wedding vibe .
“ Having a long engagement and postponing our wedding by a year ( thanks , Covid !) meant we changed our wedding style a million times ,” Emily recalls . “ In the end , we just wanted something simple and sophisticated .”
A team of five-star vendors were at the ready to create a dream day , with Port Douglas Weddings and Hire and Nu Nu Restaurant in Palm Cove teaming up for a gorgeous reception . “ Booking our reception at Nu Nu , our favourite restaurant in Palm Cove , was a no-brainer ,” says Emily . “ We could not have asked for better food , and they were so easy to work with to create our reception vision .”
In the end , Henry ’ s family were sadly unable to attend due to travel restrictions , but they helped celebrate from afar via the live-streamed ceremony and reception . “ We asked everyone watching to take a photo of themselves watching and included these in our guest book ,” says Emily . “ That way , we can remember each and every person that couldn ’ t be there on the day .” Photographer Matthew Evans was also on hand to capture those forever memories . “ While we knew how talented Matthew is , he surpassed our expectations ,” Emily says . “ Any awkwardness at being in front of the camera immediately disappeared thanks to his calm , reassuring directions .” One favourite moment definitely made it into the wedding album — the big reveal of Emily ’ s Pronovias gown . “ Only my mum had seen me in my dress before the big day ,” Emily recalls . “ The reactions from my dad and my bridesmaids made for some AMAZING photos !”
