Reading Emily and Henry ’ s story , it seems this pair were destined to meet . The two surgeons-in-training worked at Cairns Hospital , spending long hours in the same building … but , as fate would have it , it took an app for them to finally cross paths . “ It was my first ( and only ) Tinder date !” laughs Emily . After moving in together and adding cat Lenny ( yes , a nod to The Simpsons ), the pair were deeply smitten . And despite busy schedules , “ we always make sure we stop and enjoy time with each other ” says Emily . “ From making sure we have date night at least once a week to weekend adventures away .” After two years together , Emily was on ring alert during their romantic trip to the United States but Henry was actually planning a New Year ’ s Eve proposal in Sydney , only to be thwarted by thunderstorms . Clearly , the universe knew best . “ Henry took me to our favourite romantic spot in Port Douglas to watch the sunset ,” Emily recalls . “ He proposed there . It was absolutely perfect !” With Emily ’ s family in Brisbane and Henry ’ s in Sydney , the couple looked north . “ We couldn ’ t decide ... so instead we chose to get married in the city we love – Cairns ,” says Emily . The Brisbane-based couple is planning a return here to live , a decision no doubt galvanised by their beautiful nuptials .
