“ Everyone expected me to be a stress mess but funnily enough the rain was what calmed it ! I knew the day would still be perfect .” Two hours before “ I do ” Paulina had to make a call . “ Our beautiful wedding coordinator came to our villa and said we had to move the location , and it couldn ’ t have worked out more perfectly ,” says Sharna .
The ceremony was moved from Sunset Beach to the resort ’ s Atrium , overlooking the lush gardens and Lake McKenzie-shaped swimming pool . It was ideal for the wedding ’ s 55 guests , incorporating nature into the ceremony with seamless style .
“ The Atrium looked absolutely stunning and it turned out to be everything I had imagined our wedding would be . Everyone did such an amazing job to be able to pull it off ,” Sharna says . When the reception was also relocated ( to the Ballroom ), the team worked to honour the couple ’ s wish to celebrate outdoors . “ We opened all the doors and utilised the deck area outside and used it as the dance floor ,” says Sharna . “ We couldn ’ t be more happy with how it all turned out .” The newylweds spent a wedding week on K ’ gari before travelling north . “ We dropped our kids to my parents ’ place and travelled to Cape Tribulation and the Daintree , and did a lot of exploring around Cairns and the Atherton Tablelands ,” says Sharna . “ It was so nice to just spend one on one time together .” The couple also have a tip for couples considering Kingfisher Bay Resort . “ Just book it ,” says Sharna . “ The events team are absolutely beautiful to work with . It can seem hard to plan a wedding from afar , but they make it so easy ! It was the best decision we ever made .”
