Contemporary Dance Society

In October 2015 Queens’ College Contemporary Dance Society invited Meg Saunders of Richard Alston Dance Company to lead workshops that involved a technique class, learning the company’s repertoire and working on choreographic tasks.

"I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop. Meg pitched the 3 hour workshop at a perfectly inclusive level for everyone, challenging for intermediate/advanced level dancers but also accessible for anyone with little experience of contemporary dance. What an enjoyable Saturday morning we all had at Queens’ College!” commented Jane, one of the participants.

The society is hoping to organise some more workshops with external teachers in the coming terms. In the meanwhile, we’d like to remind everyone about our equally exciting regular classes with Queens’ College Artist in Residence, Adèle Thompson. We invite anyone who’d like to try and learn the contemporary dance technique or just experiment with the movement. Every class has live musical accompaniment from composer and musician Terry Mann, which is an experience that you don’t get elsewhere in Cambridge!

At the end of Lent term, on 8th and 9th March, the society organizes its annual dance show, Sprung! It a great opportunity for everyone to experience the variety of dance techniques performed by Queens’ members and their guests.
