Describe your job.

I am a Trainee Engineer at Kenya Power. My job involves supplying power to all connected Kenyans at all times.

What problem does your job help to solve? How does your job make the world a better place?

My job helps to bring power to people in the rural and marginalized areas hence ensuring children in these communities are able to study even at night. I believe that if Kenya is electrified, our economy gets better which in turn empowers the common ‘mwananchi’.

Why did you choose a career in Engineering? What was your greatest influence in making the decision?

I liked Mathematics and Sciences in high school and thought Engineering was the next best thing!

What are you passionate about?

I am passionate about electrical designs - protection schemes, supply schemes etc. although sometimes I wish I was a bit artsy :-)

What would you enjoy doing even if you were not paid to do it?

Encouraging young girls by reminding them that they are bright and can achieve whatever dream they want.

State some of your hobbies.

Swimming, reading novels, travelling and exploring new places

What advice would you give your 16 year old self?

Life is never that serious.

What would you like to be remembered for?

A woman who achieved in the engineering field and encouraged other women to do the same.
