A message from the QHS Principal, Mr. Warren Thomson
Quebec High School empowers students to become skilled, bilingual, lifelong learners
through academics, arts, athletics, and a culture of acceptance.
At Quebec High School, we pride ourselves on our holistic approach to developing the
complete student. At QHS we emphasize Academics, Arts, Athletics and
Active Citizenship by providing a challenging and diversified curriculum, a creative
arts program, a competitive athletics program that offers equal opportunities to boys
girl and community service based learning initiatives. This multifaceted approach
and girls,
allows all students the opportunity to develop leadership and entrepreneurial skills while
building self-confidence. Our goal is to help our students construct their own identity
and their world view while empowering them to take responsibility for their learning
and take action in their school and community.
Our mission is to help students achieve their full potential and we are proud of our excellent success rates and our above average
results on MELS exams. We have a dynamic and competent teaching and support staff who go above and beyond to ensure the success
of every student entrusted to their care. We continue to innovate and develop best teaching practices as shown by our 1-to-1 iPad
initiative. All students in secondary 1 and 2 are provided their own iPad for the year to use in class. We also have a new science concentration for students from secondary 1 to 5.
We are known as an Arts School and our students have the opportunity to develop their talents and passions through various
artistic classes, be it visual arts, drama, music, the Blue And Gold recording studio or music theatre. For those students who want to
perform, we have dance and music concentrations. If you are interested, you are encouraged to sign up.
QHS, Home of the Blazers! Blazer athletes compete in the RSEQ intra-scholar leagues. Our fall soccer teams continue to shine
QH
as they compete against some of the larger schools in Quebec City. Our basketball program is one of the best in the region and our
senior boys have been the Central Quebec School Board champions for 10 years running. In the spring, students play rugby, participate
in track and field, and compete in Ultimate Frisbee. The key to our success is our experienced and professional coaching staff. If you
want to start your day with some physical activity, join our soccer or basketball concentrations.
Quebec High School is a Community Learning Centre. Through various networks and partnerships, we provide
Qu
opportunities for our students to develop leadership and entrepreneurial skills. Our goal is to develop active citizens and the leaders
of tomorrow. Through service based learning projects they can work and volunteer with many community members. Ask our
students who have participated in these projects and they will tell you they are among their best experiences at high school.
camp student exchanges, and humanitarian-aid trips to Central or South America are just some of the opportunities
Leadership camps,
students can get involved in. We have a very active student government with representation from every grade level. This helps build a
sense of belonging to our school and community.
On behalf of the staff and QHS community, I would like to welcome you to our Open House on Saturday, November 5th from
10am to 12pm. Please come and meet our staff and students and see what QHS has to offer.
