Introduction
The Pre-AP Listening and Speaking supplement that accompanies ¡Qué chévere! Level 2
includes ten units of activities for students to improve their Interpretive Listening skills and
ten simulated Interpersonal Speaking conversations designed to prepare students for the AP ®
Spanish Language and Culture Exam.
The Interpretive Listening section includes a variety of authentic audio sources including
interviews, narratives, songs, news reports, and more.
Each Interpretive Listening section includes:
• An introducción to orient students to the context of the audio they will interpret.
• A comprensión section that includes multiple choice activities to help students think
critically about what they have heard.
• A comparación cultural activity that asks students to reflect on their own culture while
making comparisons to the culture highlighted in the audio.
The Interpersonal Speaking section includes simulated conversations recorded by a native
speaker.
Each Interpersonal Speaking activity includes:
• An introducción to orient students to the context of the conversation in which they will
participate.
• A conversation outline for students to anticipate the context of the conversation as
well as prepare their responses.
