Executive Director
Succession Planning & Timeline
Succession Planning - the preparation to replace one leader with another - is one of the most difficult challenges associations face in organizational
management. Few events in the life of
an association are as critical,
visible, or stressful as a
change in leadership.
The eyes of every member
vendor and organization
will be focused on the
organization. How
such an exit is man-
aged reveals the
character and
effectiveness of that
leader and association.
Leadership transition is
an integral process that
begins long before the outgoing leader departs and it presents a remarkable opportunity to move forward with a new understanding of the complexities, challenges, and changes the organization must address.
Being ready with a successor plan in place can help navigate the inevitable challenges of a leadership transition, regardless of if the transition occurred quickly or if it was an anticipated departure of a leader.
In case you have not
heard Joey Montano has
announced his departure
as Executive Director
from NMASBO effective
date June 30, 2018.
Joey has graciously
given us plenty of time
to figure out and plan
accordingly for his
replacement. I will be
chairing the committee
that will recommend to the
NMASBO board an employee
for his replacement. The
committee will be comprised of several stakeholders from board members, PED representation, and a NMASBO partner representative. The transition timeline for the remainder of the process is as follows:
