We are wrapping up what I am confident has been a busy summer, getting the old year closed, our new school year started, and readying ourselves to provide an awesome environment for our students in which they can excel . While our teachers are busy in the classroom, we in the business offices need to be educating as well. With our Training and Experience report due early November, it serves us well to ensure the accuracy of the data as it supports our funding formula. It also provides an excellent opportunity to cross-train others as to how the data is pulled, as well as recognize the implications of years of experience and education of what our educators mean to the district.

Another area that will keep all of us "on our toes" this fall will be gathering the necessary information to test our reporting for Affordable Health Care. January 2016 will be the first time when Employers must file Forms 1094-B and 1095-B or 1095-C and 1094-C (if an ALE – applicable large employer) with the Internal Revenue Service. We anticipate to have sample formatting in October, which will allow time for us to extract the necessary data and ensure that we are in compliance.

In addition, we anticipate being busy with auditors, as our audit reports are due to the State Auditor’s office by November 16th.

Having just touched on a few of the areas that will keep us busy, be sure to remember to take time for yourself and family as the holidays approach. Our students are our priority, yet if you don’t take care of yourself first, you won’t be any good to anyone else long term. Remember “it is not WHAT we have but WHO we have in our lives” that counts.
