Building for the future: PPC celebrates
125 years New technologies in asphalt plants Recycled asphalt: efficient, effective,
economical
Since the establishment of De Eerste Cement
Fabrieken Beperkt back in 1892, PPC has
grown to become South Africa’s largest
cement producer. Over the past 125 years, the
company has achieved several milestones and
contributed to some of South Africa’s most
iconic structures. As changing economic conditions and
technologies combine to create new
requirements for construction and road
building, so, too, are the requirements for
asphalt plants changing. As focus shifts towards using more
recycled material, the need for better
recycling technologies becomes more
pressing. So, too, does the need for more
effective, efficient, and economical
methods of processing secondary
materials, as well as better ways of dealing
with reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP).
