Proximity detection systems –
what do you have to do? Taking the reins at About
Face auditing Advice from environmental auditor
on dustfall monitoring and reporting
If surface mines do not have a risk
assessment and a traffic management
plan, they could be served with section
54 notices. Lizette van der Walt on 1 February
became the new independent About Face
environmental auditor of Aspasa. This
followed Alan Cluett’s retirement from
the position last year. Most surface mines in South Africa

approved environmental management
plan (EMP), or through a directive issued
by an authority, or through an agreement
with stakeholders, Alan Cluett writes.
