Martin Engineering introduces patented conveyor belt cleaner
Terex Trucks will launch its new Generation 10 TA300 and TA400 articulated dump trucks( ADTs) in South Africa in the first quarter of 2017. With fuel-efficient Scania engines, the trucks excel in large-scale construction projects, quarries, and mine sites. The TA400 is the largest Generation 10 ADT. Advancements include improved cab sealing, heating and ventilation; improved hydraulic system via magnetic suction filters to protect against environmental contamination; improved durability on the sealed, force-cooled multidisc brakes standard on all three axles; a new generation transfer box; and Allison transmission with fifth generation automatic adaptive shifting. Improved hood design enables easier maintenance access and enhanced headlamp illumination.
Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology will showcase equipment and services at CONEXPO-CON / AGG in Las Vegas in March, in application areas including rock drilling; rock cutting; crushing and screening; loading and hauling; tunnelling; quarrying; and breaking and demolition. Among the equipment on display will be the new CS550 cone crusher for second-stage crushing; the new QJ341 + mobile jaw crusher with double-deck pre-screen for fines removal; the electrically driven UI310 + wheeled impact crusher designed for the aggregates industry; the new QE441 Free Flow mobile scalper for screening products with high moisture contents; and the Pantera DP1100i surface drill rigs with redesigned control system and updated user interface and touch screen.
Caterpillar is developing autonomous mining truck technology for an expanded range of models, including other brands, driven by mining companies’ goal of reducing mining costs using existing fleets. According to the company, retrofitting technology is a proven means for mining companies to get the most from their assets, as many mining companies operate mixed fleets. Developing autonomous systems for other brands of trucks will enable the company to offer a total solution to these customers. The autonomous arrangement of the 363-tonne payload capacity 797F— the largest of the Cat line— is being tested, and other models evaluated. Several currently operating Cat 793F trucks have also been retrofitted to operate autonomously.
Martin Engineering introduces patented conveyor belt cleaner
US based Martin Engineering has patented a conveyor belt cleaner— the Martin QB1 Cleaner HD— designed to last longer and reduce total ownership cost.
The QB1 HD frame is roll formed out of a single piece of steel, and a special alignment system facilitates precise installation. A square mainframe is positioned to shed dust and spillage, and the urethane blade formulation can accommodate belt speeds of up to 4.6m / sec and service temperatures of-40 – 70 ° C.
The cleaner features Martin Engineering’ s unique CARP( constant angle radial pressure) technology to maintain the most efficient cleaning angle throughout service life, with a no-tool replacement process that can be performed safely by one person in under five minutes.
“ We’ ve simplified the manufacturing process and also re-engineered the blade itself,” explained Paul Harrison, director of the Conveyor Products Business Group.“ The new profile is less complex to produce, and because it can be roll formed or manufactured on a press brake, it will be easier to source throughout the world from any Martin Engineering manufacturing site.”
The QB1 HD can be retrofitted onto any existing Martin Engineering tensioners, and most competitive systems. It is available in lengths of 457 – 2 438mm and can also be ordered in 3.05m sections for increased versatility.
The product announcement comes on the heels of Martin Engineering’ s introduction of the company’ s‘ Forever guarantee’, which ensures lifetime no-cost replacement of tensioners and main frames for any belt cleaner assemblies that are exclusively fitted with the company’ s replacement blades. The cleaner is covered by the company’ s Mr Blade programme, which provides fresh, factory direct replacement blades, delivered and custom-fitted on-site— installed free of charge.
