Hyundai Construction Equipment has announced the immediate availability of‘ de-tiering’( or sulphur tolerance) kits for the Stage III B Hyundai 9A series, which allow Hyundai dealers to adjust their machines for markets with less-stringent emission regulations and high-sulphur fuel restrictions. De-tiering a machine’ s engine means automatic emission decertification. Alain Worp, director of construction equipment sales for Hyundai Heavy Industries Europe, said,“ Hyundai excavators and wheel loaders last for a long time, so it’ s good that when our customers choose an all-new HX / HL series machine from Hyundai, their previous machines can enjoy a second life in other countries. That’ s how we can all help to make better use of our natural resources and build a better world.”
ArcelorMittal, Evonik, LafargeHolcim and Solvay have formed a new Low Carbon Technology Partnerships Initiative across the steel, cement and chemicals industries, to look at how potential synergies between the manufacturing processes of the three energy-intensive sectors could be harnessed to reduce CO 2 emissions. The first step will involve a study aimed at bringing a fact-based overview of carbon and energy sources from industrial off-gases, and evaluating the technical, environmental and economic feasibility of different carbon capture and usage( CCU) pathways and their potential. Initial findings suggest that deploying cross-sector carbon capture and reuse opportunities on an industrial scale could reduce global anthropogenic CO 2 emissions by up to 7 %; deploying existing conversion technologies across the three sectors could utilise by-products in the off-gases to create building materials, organic chemicals and fuel; increased renewable energy would significantly boost net carbon reduction efforts; and cross-sector carbon capture and reuse should result in job creation.
First EC750E delivered in Eastern Europe
Kuwaiti construction company and quarry operator Al Ourifan has upgraded its sand washing installation with CDE Global’ s M4500, a higher capacity modular wash plant that offers feeding, screening, sand washing, and stockpiling on a single compact chassis.
The M4500 joins Al Ourifan’ s CDE M2500 E3X sand washing plant, purchased in 2013, to treat raw wadi sand in order to obtain a 0-5mm washed sand for use by the local construction industry. The M2500 produces 100 tonnes per hour( tph) of washed sand, while its M4500 processes 220tph of material to produce 200tph of concrete sand.
The 450-tonne capacity M4500, introduced in 2010, was
Polish cement company Cementownia Warta has become the first Eastern European customer to take delivery of the new 75-ton Volvo EC750E— the largest crawler excavator available in regulated markets.
Warta, based in Pajęczno County, Poland, produces cement for road construction, airports, and hydraulic structures, such as dams and water power stations. Its machines are required to work long hours while maintaining efficiency, making operator comfort and extended uptime key requirements. It was for these reasons that the Volvo EC750E was the perfect fit.
The EC750E offers innovative electro-hydraulic technology. The spacious cab is a lownoise environment with ergonomically positioned interfaces and clear all-around visibility to ensure maximum efficiency and ease of use. It has 12 air-conditioner vents and an adjustable seat for optimum operator comfort and productivity.
“ The decision to choose a Volvo machine was an obvious and natural choice for us,” says Sławomir Goszczak, transport and machinery manager at Warta.“ We bought our first Volvo unit in 2008— an L120F wheel loader— and have since gone on to own a whole fleet of its machines, culminating in our most recent purchase: the EC750E.”
In addition to the new excavator, Warta owns three

the first machine to combine feeding, screening, sand washing and stockpiling onto one compact chassis. Features include a feed hopper and conveyor, a double-deck 4.9m × 1.5m screen, and an EvoWash sand washing plant. The M4500’ s modular design allows for fast deployment and gives a smaller footprint.
Al Ourifan has also installed the CDE AquaCycle A400, a water recovery system with a 400m ³ per hour capacity that recycles up to 90 % of water used in the sand washing process, benefiting both the business and the environment. The owner of Al Ourifan, Mr Ourifan, explains,“ The issue of water availability is a primary concern for all

construction companies and quarries in Kuwait, and lack of water is a deal breaker where sand washing operations are concerned.
The new machine was delivered and mounted in the last week of September and is now being used to load the company’ s A40 haulers in the Warta limestone quarry.
Al Ourifan’ s M4500 processes 220tph of material to produce 200tph of concrete sand.
The dewatering screen on the integrated EvoWash sand washing plant also allows the material to be dried and ready for sale much sooner.
