With the help of a support team of Residential Assistants, Elms is able to help students deal with settling in to both student accommodation and student life. After choosing Queen's as your student home, the next decision to make is where to live. It's not easy, as there are a vast number of options available to undergraduates and postgraduates alike. The Options Queen's Accommodation The good news: rates across all the Queen's accommodation options include bills and rates, allowing you to budget the rest of your money for other expenses. On campus Elms Village, the University's purpose-built student village, housing over 1,100 en suite and over 500 standard single bedrooms, is just a 10-minute walk from the Lanyon Building on the Malone Road. The wide rang e of options, combined with the vibrant student atmosphere, makes it even easier to get the bala nce between work and socialising. With the completion of Willow Wal k at the star t of the last academic year, Elms has become even more diverse. This new accommoda tion block boasts a wide range of high-quality , fully-furnished, 1-4 bedroom apartments. Off campus Mount Charles: suitable for the mor e independent student and just off Botanic Avenue and University Road, each building houses seven to eight students and has all the same features and facilities as Elms, but is more integrated into the University and local neighbourhood. Guthrie House: situated just beh ind the Students' Union on Fitzwilliam Street and hou sing solely standard rooms with shared bathroom s, Guthrie House has a great location and a number of rooms especially for Single sex lifes tyle choices. College Gardens and Grant Hou se: the smaller of the Queen's Accommodation opti ons, these two separate locations have all the same facilities as the other locations but in a mor e intimate setting. Private accommodation Seeking accommodation privately is always an option and many students cho ose this route. Whether it is about the rooms curr ently available, the rates for each option, details of how to find the right place on the private market, the University's accommodation website contains a huge amount of information. I really enjoyed living in Elms Village and getting to know people from a wide range of backgrounds. Two years on, I still bump into the people I lived with in first year and chat to them about how they're getting on. Not only are the flats well equipped, but wherever you are on the site the "Treehouse", with shop, restaurant and computer facilities, is still within a two-minute walk.
