JOIN BALLET IDAHO’ S 2015 SEASON
OutBoise. com | Issue 1.2 | November 2014
Two years ago, before the first issue of OutBoise Magazine debuted, we set out to find local LGBT-friendly businesses. We sent out countless emails, and made a large number of phone calls, trying to attract businesses and organizations in an effort to promote themselves, and build a relationship with our magazine and the community.
The first one to answer that call, was Ballet Idaho. We sat down with Meredith Stead, Marketing Director for their organization at a meeting nearly two months before our first issue debuted. While we had some information available at the time, our first issue wasn’ t even ready yet. In fact, what eventually became our first issue looked very different from what was debuted.
Meredith’ s first response to our proposal was:
“ Why doesn’ t Boise already have THIS?”
In the months that followed, Ballet Idaho served as our very first advertiser. Not to provide us a source of income, but to show the local LGBT community that there was a fantastic organization whose mission is to promote classical and contemporary ballet by encouraging artists to greatness and inspiring the public to value the performing arts. They enrich our community through quality performances, disciplined training, dance outreach, and education.
Their organization is very LGBTfriendly, and accept any talented individuals, regardless of identity or orientation to perform with them.
