Socializing and Playing Games Alleviate Stress

Students experience academic stress through tests , homework , a lack of sleep , and challenging classes . This affects their daily lives and health . SLAS students are learning how to manage their stress effectively and healthily by unwinding with hobbies .

Unmanaged stress might affect a student ’ s health and lead to worrying symptoms . According to Verse Health , some stress warning signs are moodiness , constant worrying , feeling overwhelmed , aches , chest pain , dizziness , eating more or less , and sleeping too much .
According to the Globe Newswire , 45 % of high school students reported feeling stressed all time . The Pew Research Center cited that in 2019 61 % of students between 13 to 17 years old say they feel “ a lot of pressure to produce good grades .”
Subin An , a 10th grader , said she feels stressed when she starts thinking about her future . She has also experienced a nervous breakdown from not having enough time to finish a project from a challenging class . She said she got better by talking to her sister and listening to music .
Both Sarah Lee and Martina Barona , 11th graders , said they are stressed when they have many tests and homework at the same time . To alleviate stress , they take longer naps , talk to their friends , and eat comfort food . The weekend also helps them get rest and relaxation .
Myles Jin , an 8th grader , said he gets stress when homework , tests , and projects are all clumped together . To manage stress , he watches YouTube and plays games .
