Setting the tone for 2024 , Wilcon Depot is reinforcing its commitment to integrity and honesty . The event spans five days , gathering over 1,300 of its leaders from each of its stores nationwide .
The interactive event features distinguished guest speakers , including Ms . Rosemarie Bosch-Ong , the Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Wilcon Depot ; Arch . Cathy Saldaña-Siegel , President of PDP Architects and an acclaimed award-winning architect ; Mr . Jako de Leon , the President of the Creators and Influencers Council of the Philippines ( CICP ), renowned as a content creator , consultant , strategist , and producer , and Ms . Maria “ Monette ” Montserrat Iturralde-Hamlin , Founder and President of TeamAsia and serves various socio-civic organizations like Women ’ s Business Council of the Philippines ( WomenBizPH ), Government Academe Industry Network ( GAIN ), and Philippine Association of Convention / Exhibition Organizers and Suppliers ( PACEOS ), in various capacity .

GS1 PHILIPPINES CELEBRATES MILESTONES . SETS ITS SIGHTS TOWARDS THE FUTURE
On January 30 , 2024 , GS1 Philippines held its 2024 General Membership Meeting and Conference at Crowne Plaza Galleria . This event commemorated GS1 Philippines ’ 32nd anniversary and the 50th Anniversary of the GS1 Barcode , and featured discussions on the current and future development of global standards .
Attendees included organization representatives such as Undersecretary Mary Pacheco from the DTI , and Secretary Ivan Uy from the DICT , who discussed their interests in GS1 standards and how they aligned to their respective organizations ’ visions and goals . Companies from several industries such as retail , food manufacturing , healthcare , transportation , logistics , and many more were also present to share their interest in these developments . The GMM event had approximately 200 + attendees , leading to a resounding success for GS1 Philippines .
The barcode has been a revolutionary global standard since 1973 . Since then , GS1 Philippines has continued upholding and implementing these same global standards here in the Philippines , as demonstrated by their launch of GS1 Activate in March 2023 – which allows their members to create barcodes and share their products with others . With the advent of the barcode ’ s 50th Anniversary , a new revolution is on the horizon as GS1 Philippines announces its goal of evolving the barcode to the next level towards 2D Migration via GS1-powered QR Codes .
By combining the power of the internet and the barcode , these QR codes will pave the way for a future where consumers have instant access to information beyond the label , a future where healthcare products have 2D barcodes that improves consumer safety , a future where governments and regulators recognize GS1 standards as a required necessity to fulfill guidelines . But most importantly , they will lead to a future where infinite possibilities are just around the corner for anyone and everyone in the world to grasp .
