There was so much to see, something for everyone, including a very early gas-fuelled four-stroke engine demonstration which captivated us all. Then it was on to Blackburn Cathedral, one of England’s newest cathedrals, for evensong with their choir. The Robertson Prize for all-round contribution to the choir: Tristan Wigley The Nicholas Stenning Cup for the most improved musical ability: Hamish Rogers The Ford-Sagers Cup for instrumental work: Thomas Sharrock On our final day the Quiristers sang in Emmanuel Church in Didsbury, first to broadcast for BBC Radio 4 Daily Service, and then to record a second Daily Service and Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols. The Sever Cup for the outstanding Quirister sportsman: Tristan Wigley In true Quirister tradition, we all worked extremely hard and had a lot of fun too.
