A letter from a fellow questioner at Children ’ s Hospital Colorado
Dear colleagues ,
The combination of first-rate programs , innovative solutions to care and steadfast , brilliant staff are why it truly is different here at Children ’ s Colorado . In the spirit of celebrating how far we ’ ve come as a reputable , world-renowned research hospital , it brings me great pleasure to announce two noteworthy achievements in our Center for Children ’ s Surgery : We ’ ve secured Level 1 Children ’ s Surgery verification by the American College of Surgeons ( ACS ) and are welcoming two new surgical chiefs , Soham Roy , MD , and Klane White , MD .
Long before we joined the National Quality and Surgical Improvement program in 2008 , our surgical team was already committed to ensuring the best quality of care and safety standards — and that commitment has been realized once again with the recent verification from ACS . As a testament to the entire surgical team and support staff who continue to make strides in care on a daily basis , this designation is reserved for centers demonstrating superb quality and patient safety . Looking to continue the legacy of providing superior surgical care are our new surgical chiefs , Drs . Roy and White .
Having previously served as the Chief of Pediatric Otolaryngology and the Assistant Dean for Admissions and Student Affairs at UTHealth Houston and Children ’ s Memorial Hermann Hospital , Dr . Roy is a renowned expert in operating room safety issues and serves as a consultant to the U . S . Food and Drug Administration and industry in the development of innovative and safer surgical devices . Dr . Roy has already set an ambitious agenda , ensuring the Department of Pediatric Otolaryngology at Children ’ s Colorado is consistently one of the most highly acclaimed in the country .
Dr . White comes to us from Washington where he served as a pediatric orthopedic surgeon and Director of the Skeletal Health and Dysplasia Program at Seattle Children ’ s Hospital , and professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of Washington . Internationally recognized as an expert in mucopolysaccharidosis and skeletal dysplasia , Dr . White is interested in clinical research on the diagnosis and management of early onset scoliosis , metabolic bone disease and complex spine deformity .
We look forward to the leadership of Drs . Roy and White as they contribute to Children ’ s Colorado ’ s legacy of providing superior pediatric surgical care .
