For me , one of the really fascinating aspects of a career in child health is the inquisitive nature of our young patients . Their gears always churning , yearning to understand how things work and why , and wondering how we , as doctors , can help them experience change they can feel — change that will offer them a healthier childhood .
Like the children we treat , we ’ re creating a campus culture that continuously inspires curiosity . In doing so , we ’ re unlocking a new realm of pediatrics — one that is swapping insular science and medicine for collaborative , progressive approaches to advancing and accelerating discovery . Questions once asked within the silos of specific specialties are more and more commonly being addressed across multidisciplinary planes . These approaches are producing the remarkable advances that we feature in the following pages .
By prioritizing and advancing research , education , clinical work and process improvement , we ’ re speeding the integration of our discoveries into the clinical engine , treating our patients and patients around the world in new and innovative ways . A unique and strong partnership with University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus provides fresh perspectives and invaluable expertise , as do our relationships with national and international research consortiums , industry partners and children ’ s hospitals .
We ’ re incredibly grateful for a university dean and chancellor , a chair of pediatrics , and a hospital executive team who have not only encouraged this collaborative approach to child health research , but have actively paved the way for it , because they understand it ’ s a distinguishing factor .
Here , we imagine the future and simultaneously create it .
