With a total of 64 matches to be played across 28 days in eight state-of-the-art stadiums , Qatar will welcome 1.5 million visitors . To deliver the required infrastructure and oversee host planning and operations , the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy ( SC ) was established in 2011 .
At the helm of the SC is its Secretary General , His Excellency Hassan Al Thawadi , who has played a leading role in navigating Qatar through its extensive World Cup preparations .
