From the CEO - Lindsay Ellis
Welcome to the Summer edition of the Q Golf Magazine.
As 2016 comes to a close we were provided
with welcomed news from the State
Government of its commitment to
the industry.
Golf Queensland was just one of the
seventy-seven organisation’s across
Queensland to receive funding for the
next three years. In total, 32 million will be
distributed with Golf Queensland receiving
$900,000 over the next three years.
In addition to this, the women’s initiative
Golf Queensland has run in south east
Queensland during the past three years also
received funding to enhance the activities
across Queensland.
Golf Queensland is now excited to announce
and deliver Ladies, Let’s Golf regionally with
two districts targeted per year for the next
three years.
The grant will allow Ladies, Let’s Golf to
continue to extend its reach following a
successful 2016. The female membership
participation pathway has grown 32% in
2016 and is delivered at 19 venues in south
east Queensland.
Over 495 ladies attended a Ladies, Let’s Golf
Introduction session in 2016 with over 71%
registering for the ongoing level 1 program.
In 2017 the Ladies, Let’s Golf regional
reach will be introduced into the Darling
Downs & South West Ladies and Far North
Queensland Ladies Districts.
The women’s program has been one
highlight for the year and we look forward
to taking it further in 2017.
I’d also like to take this opportunity on
behalf of the Board and staff at Golf
Queensland to thank Rae Clarke who has
been instrumental in developing junior golf
in Queensland. Rae will officially retire in
January after 34-years of helping grow the
game and see Queenslanders move from a
9-hole golfer to the top professional ranks.
I trust you enjoy this season’s Q-Golf Online
and take the time over summer to get out
and play more golf.
Happy golfing,
Lindsay Ellis
