From the CEO - Lindsay Ellis
Golf Month ready for October
This October, golf facilities across Australia
will throw open their doors for GOLF
MONTH. The initiative will stage a variety of
activities to encourage new, returning and
existing players to get into golf.
GOLF MONTH is open to everyone: those
who have never hit a ball, those who
haven’t done so for ages, those who need a
little help with their aspirations to become a
professional or those who are on the course
every week.
There is the opportunity for golf enthusiasts
of all ages and abilities to benefit from great
offers and activities. And for club members
who introduce a new member, there is the
chance to go in the draw to win a MoneyCan’t-Buy 2015 Emirates Australian Open
experience.
With industry support from key stakeholders
such as the PGA, ALPG and all state and
territory associations, the event will see
October host many exciting activities.
GOLF MONTH, is aimed at driving club
membership and to re-engage lapsed golfers
under the banner ‘Rediscover Your Drive’.
Part of the strategy is to encourage golf
people to introduce friends and family to
the game.
Research tells us that up to 92 per cent
of casual golfers, and 80 per cent of club
members, started playing the game because
they were introduced by someone close to
them. It is something we need to encourage
and to capitalise upon.
As part of GOLF MONTH any golfer who
manages to recruit a new member can enter
a draw for the once-in-a-lifetime Emirates
Australian Open experience including a spot
in the pro-am this November in Sydney to a
current member.
There will be hundreds of golf clubs and
facilities running activities during the month
of October, with details at the website
www.golfmonth.com.au.
