Idolised in NQ
Bob Platt spends countless time helping juniors on the golf course

When one thinks of golf heroes it’s
the Adam Scotts, Jason Days and
Karrie Webbs that spring to mind.
But here’s one for you – Bob Platt.
Okay, Bob’s name isn’t synonymous
with the abovementioned, but in
North Queensland he is idolised by
countless juniors, their parents and
grandparents.
The 62-year-old is president of Golf
North Queensland, has been for 12
years, and plays off “20-something”
at Proserpine Golf Club. But his role
in junior development dates back to
the early 1980s.
“I have always been a keen
supporter of the juniors and have
helped out whenever and wherever
I can,” said Bob, a life-long bachelor.
