From the Editor’s Desk
Welcome to the Autumn
edition of Q-Golf Online
The wealth of talent coming through
the Queensland ranks is remarkable.
As David Newbery has scribed in this
edition of Q-Golf Online we certainly
seem to have the “knack of producing
top-class golfers”.
Leading the charge is no other than
Karrie Webb who claimed the Volvik
RACV Ladies Masters last month making
her one of the country’s greatest
golfers. Karrie has probably singlehandedly encouraged thousands of
women to take up the game of golf. I’m
sure seeing her back in the winner’s
circle at the Ladies Masters was a thrill
for many.
Queensland’s amateur golfers have
also been shining. In the space of a
couple of months we have seen eight
young golfers from our State win major
amateur championships around the
country. An amazing feat that we are
not shy to promote!
Golf Queensland actively promotes the
fact that golf is a game for everyone.
It is one sport that allows for many
to participate in. Ben Tullipan is one
person who doesn’t let his disability
get in the way of a game of golf. Bernie
Pramberg caught up with Ben and gives
us a snapshot of how a bit of hard work
pays off. Sometimes the best medicine
is being told you can’t so something.
That way you can prove them wrong.
It has been a wet start to the year,
with many golf clubs around the State
affected by the adverse weather
conditions. David Newbery takes a
look into some of the clubs affected
by flooding, heavy rain and damaging
winds.
