What do teachers actually ‘do’ on staff INSET days? We discuss, we explain, we
work, we learn! The Primary staff, including classroom teachers and PE, Music
and Thai teachers modelled the Primary Years Programme (PYP) goals to be
active participants in a lifelong journey of learning last Sunday and Monday. We
attended a two day PYP workshop focused on Teaching and Learning. Chris Frost,
an experienced and knowledgeable IB workshop leader; led the workshops, and
supported our learning as we asked questions, found solutions and clarified our
thinking as we continue on our journey towards PYP authorization. Your child
can expect to the see even more child-centred and visual learning strategies
incorporated in the classrooms including: Thought Boards, Chalk and Talk,
Popcorn, Putting it on the Line, Visual Analogies, Headlines… and our favourite
“What makes you say that?”. A very special thanks to the school’s Take Five Café
for providing us with scrumptious and luxurious food and drinks to keep our
brains working on the Sunday!
Mr. Morgan demonstrates the ‘popcorn’ strategy to share
learning
Clarifying and exploring our ideas further in collaborative
