PYP in Action
Term 3 | June 2014
The PYP Exhibition @ St. Andrews International School Green Valley
Central idea:
People use different forms of expression to convey and take action about local
or global issues.
The Year 6 students (and teachers) have worked extremely hard these past few
weeks – and we were able to see the products of their efforts during the PYP
Exhibition last week. There were very proud moments as our students exhibited
the attributes of the learner and brought together the essential elements of the
PYP by communicating their passion, knowledge and actions with the whole
school community. Well done Year 6!
It was a poignant time for St. Andrews as it also encapsulates the school’s own
learning journey of developing our understanding of inquiry.
Some reflections written by our Year 6 students which demonstrate their
understanding of the thinking and learning processes involved.
The Exhibition was for us to learn more about the world and for us not to
take for granted of what we have.
My biggest challenge was to combine everyone’s ideas into one so we all
agree.
I have changed as a learner by being more committed to my work – I did
extra work on the weekend.
We had to overcome challenges such as cooperation and time
management
And some words of wisdom and advice for next year’s Year 6 students:
Don’t give up when you fail
Don’t cry when you have been told off – just deal with it
Have a lot of primary resources
Don’t like something? CHANGE!”
Choose a topic you are really passionate about
Think outside of the box
Listen to teachers and mentors
Use your time wisely to get your work done or work will stack up
