PYA for Radon Reduction Newsletter 2023 February | Page 8

David Trent, Pennsylvania

David is the son of Helena Trent, a victim of stage four lung cancer. Given she never smoked, it was evident that she most likely died due to radon. As a result, David Trent decided to found a nonprofit called “RnFree.” They are a charity dedicated to raising awareness of radon exposure. They use 100% of donations to provide radon test kits for individuals and families that do not have the financial ability to pay for a radon test. They currently ship nationwide, have sup- plied 497 families with radon test kits, and raised $9,354. David hopes to continue to grow his nonprofit by affiliating with radon test suppliers in order to minimize the deaths due to radon in a cost-efficient manner.

Joshua L. Keyes, Pennsylvania

Six years ago Josh watched his Aunt go through her lung cancer journey which sparked him to be- come a radon and lung cancer agent of change regarding awareness. As the founder of Genesis Creation Project, a nonprofit organization which focuses on education surrounding pets and radon, environmental issues, and animal educa- tion, his goal is to not only educate youth, adults, and pet owners about the dangers of radon, but to lead others to take personal initiatives in regard to their own mental, emotional, physical health to as- sist in creating stronger communities. As a licensed minister, some of his skills include relationship building, counseling, youth mentorship, emotional aid, public speak- ing, etc. He hopes to move the next gen- eration of youth and adults to help lead in the world of radon as agents of change. I hope to grow Genesis Creation Project in the world of pets and radon awareness and education while using animals to change people.
