Lifelong Learners
The PVSD staff is committed to lifelong learning ! Professional development ( PD ) of our teaching , paraprofessional , and administrative staff , in the 20- 21 school year focused on teaching and learning under the circumstances of the pandemic . Not only did our staff explore new ways to deliver instruction and alternative ways of assessing student learning , they also gained a fair amount of experience learning virtually as students . Professional development sessions included topics such as Use of Modern Resources & Technology Tools , Assessment Options in a Virtual Classroom , Nurturing Social & Emotional Wellness , Online Lesson Design , and more . Some of the concepts explored will continue to influence the way we " do school " in the future .
District administrators participated in a year-long book study of the title , Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Brain , by Zaretta Hammond .
I learned how to teach a class full of students ... in an empty classroom .
