The PVF Roundtable Board of Directors recently voted to add College of the Mainland (COM) to the list of schools supported through PVF scholarship donations. COM is an accredited public community college serving Mainland Galveston County and the Texas Gulf Coast, offering flexible, industry connected programs for busy, purpose driven students.
College of the Mainland’s Academic Master Plan (AMP) outlines a strategic vision centered on expanding educational access, enhancing student success, and aligning academic programs with evolving workforce needs. This mission directly supports the PVF Roundtable’s goal of preparing graduates to enter the pipe, valve, and fittings industry with strong technical training and real-world skills. The previous AMP established the foundation by modernizing facilities, strengthening workforce partnerships, and broadening technical training opportunities across the region. Building on that momentum, the current plan emphasizes data-informed improvements, innovative academic support services, and deeper collaboration with industry partners to ensure students are well-prepared for in-demand careers or continued education.
COM offers scholarships to both full-time and part-time students each academic year to help offset the cost of tuition, textbooks, and other educational expenses. The PVF Roundtable has designated specific fields of study as eligible for these scholarship funds, including Occupational Safety and Health, Process Technology, Welding, and Industrial Trades. These programs provide hands-on learning and expert instruction that equip students to enter high-demand, essential sectors that keep the energy and industrial infrastructure running.
By expanding its support to College of the Mainland, the PVF Roundtable continues its commitment to investing in the future workforce of the PVF industry and helping students access the training they need to build successful, long-term careers.
