Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams and
City leaders put technology to
work Tuesday, March 31, 2020 in
a telephone town hall meeting
focused on the new coronavirus
COVID-19.
On April 08, 2020, the City of Arlington Municipal Court implemented a new
virtual court pilot program as a mechanism to provide access to the Court in
the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. To help minimize foot traffic at the court-
house, the Municipal Court will be allowing defendants who have received a
citation with the City of Arlington to have procedural access to a Judge and
utilize the Zoom platform to speak with a Judge during a virtual walk in court
session. These walk in sessions will be held Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. -
11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. and will be live streamed on YouTube.
Defendants who wish to speak with a Judge may send an email to the Muni-
cipal Court at [email protected]. A court clerk will respond to your
email with a date, time and instructions on how to join the virtual courtroom.
Virtual dockets are courtroom settings and defendants are expected to uphold
proper decorum in their manner and dress code. These virtual walk in dockets
play an important role in ensuring access to the Municipal Court while making
every effort to avoid risks to the public health.
More than 12,000 residents partici-
pated in the call, with leaders
answering two dozen questions.
The topics ranged from local
hospital preparedness to online
learning for Arlington ISD students.
Leaders also addressed proactive
steps the City is taking to slow the
spread of COVID-19 including
prevention tips and the Stay Home,
Work Safe order.
With the pandemic limiting the
public’s ability to interact with
their elected leaders and a grow-
ing thirst for information from the
residents, an additional telephone
town hall meeting was held on
April 16, 2020 with focus on the
pandemic only.
