Best Game
Goal Of The Season
FA Cup Run
Season Review
There were many great games this season and it is hard to chose just one but i belive that the best game was in the FA Cup against Huddersfield. I think this because it was one of if not the best performance that Grimsby put in all season. On the 4th of january 2014 the two teams stepped out on to the Blundell Park pitch. Huddersfield started brightly peppering James McKeowns goal but not really troubling Grimsby until the 24th minute when grimsby broke down the right hand side and crossed the ball into hannah who slotted away cooly. Grimsby lead until just after half time when Norwood put a great free-kick into the bottom corner. Grimsby answered back quicly when Disley scored a header in the 62nd minute. Grimsby then lead untill the 86th minute when Paterson slotted in from close range after McKeown patted the ball into his path. Unfortunately stopped the great FA Cup run even though this happened i still enjoyed this game like many other people.
There were many contenders for goal of the season but there was one outright winner and that was Patrick Mclaughlin's superb stricke against Dartford in the league. Another pick of the bunch was Scott Neilson's second goal vs Kidderminster after he finished off a great pass with a class lob over the keeper to seal the win.
Grimsby Town enjoyed a great FA Cup run reaching the third round beating Scunthorpe 2-1, Northampton 2-0 then they unfortunately lost to Huddersfield 3-2 after they conceded two goals in 5 minutes to be sent crashing out after defeating teams in higher leagues as they were the supprise package of the tournement.
