The more flexible you are the less prone to injury you will be and decrease the likelihood that spinal and other injuries. According to nature.com, “Contracture, or reduced joint mobility, is a common and disabling sequel of spinal cord injury. The primary intervention for the treatment and prevention of contracture is regular stretch to soft tissues.”
Now, there are multiple schools of thoughts of when to stretch and when not too. Some people say that you should stretch three to four times a day, while others say before you exercise, and others say only after. Listen to your body and health care professional or personal trainer when you are making the decision to stretch, but the overall summation is do it!
