in the leper;

4  Then shall the priest command to take for him that is to be cleansed two birds alive and clean, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop:

5  And the priest shall command that one of the birds be killed in an earthen vessel over running water:

6  As for the living bird, he shall take it, and the cedar wood, and the scarlet, and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the running water:

7  And he shall sprinkle upon him that is to be cleansed from the leprosy seven times, and shall pronounce him clean, and shall let the living bird loose into the open field.”This passage sounds pretty mystical to me... Killing a bird, dipping the live bird in the dead bird's blood... hmmm... how very strange and unusual!!

Often the things we do in our spiritual practice are to bypass the human conditioning through ritual. By actively participating in such activities, we can keep the mind at bay, distracted from our usual doubt or fear, and push ourselves further into spirit allowing God's power to work through us.

Freeing ourselves of this doubt, escaping the practical concepts of the mind allows the “mortal” us to get out of the way in order for God to work through our physical being, as Jesus taught.

By clearing the mind, we can reach into the true potential of being. Doubt and fear are of the mind. Jesus explained, “Doubt not...” Therefore, many Eastern and ancient practices of clearing the mind to release doubt and fear might just be a missing piece of the puzzle to unlock our true nature.

Romans 12:2

“And be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, acceptable, and perfect will of God.”

Gurus, sages, and yogis have, for eons, taught us how to quiet the mind and connect with God. They understand that we are not separate from God, but actually a part of God with the divine spark of creation within us. He is not on a cloud somewhere out there; he is not watching and waiting for you to screw up. God is within and all around.

Many Christians believe that if you hold true to God's commandments and live a good enough life, you will, upon death, be invited into the Kingdom of Heaven. Yet Jesus taught that the Kingdom of God was at hand... the here and now.Luke 17:20 & 21

“20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees when the Kingdom of God shall come, he answered them and said, the kingdom of God cometh not with observation:

21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! Or Lo there! For behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

22 And he said unto the disciples, the days will come when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and ye shall not see it.”

There is no waiting until death or apocalypse! It is here, now, within us. This is the most uplifting, monumental teaching there could be! The question is then, how do we reach the Kingdom of God?
