“Songwriting, for me, is usually an itch. I can feel a song coming on days or even weeks before it hits me.” It’s definitely a blast being an opening act for any big artist! I want to say that my favourite experience was opening for Average White Band. I am such an old soul, so opening for that band was the coolest. The crowd loved our band and we both complimented each other so well. We opened at this huge theatre and sold out of every CD. Do you have any future recording plans at this time? Are you working on any other projects at the moment? Yes, I’m always recording. It’s great that my father owns a recording studio so I can go in at any time. I am currently working on two new songs that I will release as singles. Musically, who are your biggest influences? What music brought you to where you are, musically, today? My biggest influences are my father, James Brown, Stevie Wonder and James Taylor. Each of them represent a piece of me. If you could chose anyone to collaborate with, who would you choose? I feel like everyone says this, but Stevie Wonder. His talent is beyond. There’s lots of tour dates coming up for March and April, are you looking forward to these shows? What’s your favourite thing about touring? Absolutely! I love the experience of touring because you never know what you are going to get. You get to travel, be on the road and meet interesting people. I have met the most intriguing people while performing and still friends with them to this day. album are you most proud of? Where can our readers purchase your albums? Each album represents the time of my life that it was written. It is hard to pick one that I am most proud of because each album represents my growth as a person and an artist. When I listen to my older songs, I am immediately taken back to that exact time when the songs were written. Each album is like a recorded musical diary of my life transitions. I am definitely proud of my latest recordings but also equally proud of where I was when I first released an album back in 2006. All my albums are available on iTunes and lauracheadle.com Do you feel you get musically stronger with each album? Do you learn a lot from making each album? I definitely feel vocally stronger with each release. That comes with the territory. The more you gig, the better you get. I learn a lot about myself with each album. For example, my very first album was about finding love and the angst of finding someone to understand you. As I have grown older, I am still writing about love but also writing about life and being my authentic self. It’s a beautiful experience. You’ve opened for some huge names like Hall & Oates, Ryan Cabrera and played at a Bruce Springsteen After Party (WOW) can you tell me a bit about some of these experiences? What was your favourite show to play over the years? Tell me an interesting fact about yourself? I am a strict vegan and love to go running! I run 7-10 miles a day. What are your goals for 2015? My goals for 2015 are to continue spreading my music and keeping blues and soul music alive and well. Any last words? Thank you so much to all the stations and listeners for making my new blues album Where The Blues Hangs Out #7 on Blues Charts! Laura Cheadle’s albums are available Ѽ
