It breaks my heart that black cats are the least adopted .” Fish supports important shelter moratoriums placed on black cat adoptions around Halloween . “ I don ’ t want black cats being abused or disposed . Most shelters have rigorous adoption applications and I ’ m all for it . These guys depend on us so much . And I don ’ t want black kitties getting a bad rap , but there is this badass element to black cats . Black Cat Fireworks — that ’ s cool !” At one time Fish had the blues song “ Black Cat Bone ” in her repertoire . “ Music is all about symbolism , and the black cat is a powerful symbol .”
Fish ’ s love of cats began early . “ We lived in the country and my first kitty just showed up ,” says Fish . “ I named him Kitty Meow Meow , because I was , like , five ! ( Laughs .) I connected with the spirit and attitude of cats . Cats are who they are . They don ’ t like you , they don ’ t mess with you ! They ’ re honest and upfront about it . Earning their trust is rewarding . We had another country cat named Scar after Scar from The Lion King . My parents had dogs . I really love dogs , but they always let me get a cat at the shelter . I had a cool one named
