To say that Glen Hogh wears many hats is an understatement . But , the realtor / restaurant consultant / chef / ordained minister ’ s favorite role is that of pooch papa to Zeta , his adorable , 5-year-old bulldog mix , w h o m h e rescued from the Louisiana SPCA .
“ I ’ ve always had larger dogs , but when the time came for me to get a new dog , I decided I wanted something smaller ,” he said speaking of the 40-pound pup . That time came in May of 2019 when he was undergoing treatment for cancer and thought a furry companion would lift his spirits .
“ Even though I was still leading a very active life , I knew I would be spending more time at home resting , so it seemed like the ideal time to adopt a new buddy ,” he explained . “ Little did I know that Zeta — short for Catherine Zeta-Bones — would need me as much as I needed her because she was heartworm positive and undergoing treatment . Oddly , we both had our third treatments on the same day .”
Zeta ’ s incredibly calm , laid-back disposition played a vital role in Glen ’ s recovery . “ She truly helped me to relax when I was anxious , and she was a great distraction from what I was going through ,” he said . “ I was busy looking out for her wellbeing , while she was comforting me .” Today , both are doing great , thanks in part to their mutual support and unconditional love .
When Glen ’ s not spending time with his best four-legged friend , he ’ s usually viewing homes with clients . “ I started in real estate in 1994 when I purchased my first house to flip ,” said the former full-time chef / restaurant owner . It was real estate that put Glen in the restaurant business . “ I ’ ve always had a passion for food , but didn ’ t really consider it as a career until I sold a building , and then came the opportunity to purchase the restaurant ,” he explained . Even when I was running the restaurant more than full time , I continued tinkering with redesigning properties . I think a lot of restaurant people have other artistic outlets be it music , painting , etc ., and restoring properties was mine .”
As for his foodie side , Glen continues to stir the pot by consulting with new or re-branding restaurants , having recently completed a project in New York City . He also enjoys working with select private chef clients . “ While the New Orleans real estate market continues to be hot and excites my schedule , I tend to operate best with a full plate ” he said .
Glen works with residential and commercial real estate clients and is Preservation Resource Center ( PRC ) certified . “ Real estate is an incredibly gratifying career ,” he said . “ The happiness I can give a couple purchasing their first home together is quite rewarding . I can marry them , and help them find their dream home !” And , if you ’ re lucky , he just may put on his chef ’ s toque and cook up something special .
