I noticed that a vase has fallen down. I cleaned the shards and wiped the floor. I kept thinking what could’ ve made the vase fall and then I noticed that a window was open.
Maybe it was just a breeze, I thought to myself.
I went back to Anna and we continued watching the movie. I didn’ t know why but suddenly it became really cold in the room. I jumped to my feet and went to close the window. But even after a while, it didn’ t help. It wasn’ t the kind of cold that we would be shivering but it got colder in the room. Then out of nowhere, an abstractly painted picture fell from the wall.
We got scared to death again. Anna assumed that we had a ghost there. To be honest I had believed in ghosts but I just didn’ t want to believe that we had one right there in the house. I had been scared already from all those things which had already fallen and cracked.
“ That woman doesn’ t want us here,...’’
Anna kept repeating this sentence over and over. After one hour of persuading her to tell me the truth she finally spilled the beans.
I found out that in the house there once lived a woman who was a lunatic. Apparently, she kept claiming that her husband was cheating on her and wanted to harm her. In the end, she couldn’ t deal with the stress and killed herself and her fifteen years old daughter as well.
I didn’ t want to stay even a minute longer in this house but I just couldn’ t go back to Alenka’ s house. We agreed with Anna, that we would stay awake the whole night. We’ we spent half of the night sitting outside on a terrace. We curled ourselves into blankets and went back to the house around dawn. When we were sure that everyone at our houses was awake we returned there and told each other that we would never tell anyone about what truly happened that night. Honestly, I feel sorry for the future owners.
