The next murder was com-
mitted on the 27th of Sep-
tember near the Lake Be-
ryessa. The victims, Bryan
Hartnell (20) and Cecelia
Shephard (23) were this time
tied to a tree and stabbed
multiple times. The murderer
even left a message for the
police on the couple´s car
doors. Hartnell survived but
Cecelia died after a couple
days due to her injuries. Luc-
kily, she was the only one
that saw the killer without
his mask. One of the other
victims was a cab driver. This
time, here was a pair of blo-
ody gloves and a fingerprint
found at the crime scene at
least. At the first sight it lo-
oked like this murder wasn´t
a work of our Zodiac, be-
cause it seemed just like a

robbery, but the next letter
witnessed the opposite. The-
re was once again the exact
description of the crime sce-
ne and it even included a
piece of a bloody fabric that
was later matched with the
victim´s t-shirt. The letter
later threatened about at-
tacking a bus full of children
and ridiculed cluelessness of
the police.
It was also the last of his
proven murders, though he
claims a lot more.
The main suspect was and
still remains Arthur Leigh
Allen, whom police suspec-
ted after his ex-co-worker
mentioned Allen writing a
novel about a murderer also
called Zodiac with a very
