This is not a touchy-feely book . There are going to be things in it that you won ' t like . There will be things in it that you will disagree with . That ' s okay . But this strategy is one that was created through experience and observation . It will work if we execute it because it has worked for our opponents . I am not a professor of political science at a prestigious university . This is not a book that outlines and analyzes our problems in 37 different ways using lofty language to present some nonactionable political theory or opinion .
I am a political operative and strategist . I ' ve been working on the ground in the political space for over a decade and a half trying to get Democrats elected at the local and state levels - many times in hard red districts . This book is a result of my observation that elections are simply not enough ; that there are other things we need to be doing in order to have a better shot at being successful during elections and moving America forward .
Part of this book is the result of a period of time in which I intentionally pulled back and allowed my team to continue servicing candidates while I took time to sit down , study and deconstruct what , exactly , has made our opponents so successful . I synthesized those observations with things I had already been doing in my own work and I emerged with what I have called The Five-Point Power Acquisition Plan for the American Left . That ’ s what you ’ ll get in this book — the Five- Point Power Acquisition Plan — along with a few other observations and directives that we will need to put into practice so that we can quickly and effectively neutralize the social and political influence of the American Right .
